The Best Mince Pie Recepie Ever

By EmilyCooper - December 20, 2017

So it's that time of year when we can all get into the festive spirit and get baking one of the most yummiest things of all time! Mince pies!!

Last year when deciding I wanted to bake some mince pies I tried to find a simple but yummy recipe to make some, when my mother in law gave me hers, and I couldn't be happier with the out come of them. Yes simple but oh so yummy!

- What we need

  • 1lb of plain flour
  • 6oz of lard
  • 6oz of butter
  • Mince meat
  • A drop of water
  • Round cutters (one slightly small than the other)
  • Cupcake Tin
  • Rolling pin
This recipe makes around 24 mince pies.

Lets get started!

Pre heat the oven to 180℃ and then measure out all the ingredients so its easier to add next.

If you have a kitchen aid or any mixer it can be much easier than doing by hand, if not get your muscles out cause your going to need them!

Sieve the plain flour into a mixing bowl and add small amounts of lard to start and then gradually add the rest. Do the exact same with the butter.

Add a small amount of water until the mixture comes together into a dough.

Wrap the dough in some cling film and place in the fridge to chill for 10-15 mins.

Next dust some flour on a clean surface and over your rolling pin, then roll out to a decent thickness.

Using the larger round cutter, cut out 24 bigger pieces as these will be used for the base of the mince pies and then repeat with the small round cutter for the tops.

Before you place any dough into the tins be sure to grease them.

Once the bottom of the mince pies are in, fill each one with a small amount of mince meat and then place the tops on. Make sure you press the edges down on each pie to ensure the mince meat doesn't spill out.

Place into the middle of the oven for 10-15 mins until slightly brown.

Once you take them out of the oven be careful as they will be hot. Leave them to slightly cool (if you can resist that is) and then dust over the top with some icing sugar!

Be warned if you try take them out of the tin before they are slightly cool they will crumble!!

Finally serve them up with a nice warming festive drink, relax and get into the festive spirit!
